Tooth fillings are generally required when the tooth has decay. The infected and decayed parts of the tooth are removed and the prepared cavity is filled. There are a variety of materials available for this purpose.

Amalgam:
This was often used before, but it is no longer considered modern, in view of health considerations. For aesthetic reasons as well, this filling is no longer recommended.

Our clinic also carries out complete or partial amalgam sanitations.

Composite fillings:
Synthetic, tooth-coloured fillings are made directly in the mouth. They can be cured through UV radiation. Synthetic fillings are primarily used in the frontal tooth area as well as for smaller fillings in the molar teeth.

Gold and ceramic inlays:
While plastic fillings are placed freshly in the tooth and only cured there, inlays are made in the dental laboratory according to the model of the drilled area of the tooth. They are fixed in the tooth using cement or a special adhesive.

Inlays are mainly used for larger cavities in the molar or side tooth where chewing stress is experienced.
