In the last decade, the aesthetic aspects of dental Implant logy are increasing in importance.  During this time it has become apparent that the uses of metal free procedures have distinct advantages. The previous methods of using titanium implants with porcelain abutments do not provide the best cosmetic effect in front teeth because of the visibility of the titanium implant through the surface of the gum. Additionally, there is a move away from the use of this metal alloy because of its biological incompatibility.

Zirconium oxide is metal free, has no free radicals and is very fracture resistant.  Because of its white colour it is suitable for cosmetic applications in front restoration.  Zirconium oxide implants are a one step process due to their design.  The diameter of the implant and the length of the integrated abutment avoid contact with the opposing surface.  These implants do not require additional drilling to modify the abutment.  Because of the physical characteristics of zirconium oxide, drilling would destroy the integrity of the structure.

Crowns and Bridges
