Periodontitis

+36 96 566 472

If a gum infection is not treated, the infection will pass to the jawbone. This periodontitis leads to the gradual disintegration of the periodontium (tooth bed). Fibres, tissue and bone around the teeth will be destroyed. From the outside, the retraction of the gums can be seen and the resulting phenomenon of “longer teeth”. In the advanced stage the teeth may even loosen.

Periodontitis can no longer be treated by cleaning the teeth. Only a systematic periodontal treatment can stop the infection of the tooth bed. The treatment is done in several stages, as a rule.

Pre-treatment:
During the pre-treatment, hard and soft deposits on the tooth are removed. In addition, individual instructions for oral hygiene will be given to you.

Periodontal treatment:
While in the pre-treatment, hard and soft deposits on the tooth in the crown area are removed, the tooth root surface is now cleaned. Your teeth will be cleaned below the gums. Tartar, plaque, and bacteria are removed, so that your body is able to bring the inflammation under control. This cleaning is done painlessly with local anaesthesia.

If the periodontitis has already advanced considerably, the gums will have to be surgically removed in order to remove the deposits on the teeth in question. After thorough cleaning of the tooth roots, and the smoothening of the bone, the gum is replaced on the teeth and stitched up.

Follow-up treatment:
The periodontal treatment will bring the periodontitis to an end. With thorough dental hygiene, you can yourself contribute to preventing a repeated inflammation. It is equally important to have a dentist carry out regular check
